Participating (Par): Pratt Medical Center has a signed contract with the Insurance company agreeing to write off the difference between the actual charge and the allowed amount paid by the Insurance company. The patient is still responsible to pay his/her copayments and/or co-insurance.

Non-Participating (Non-Par): Pratt Medical Center does not have a signed contract with the insurance company. No adjustments are made between the actual charge and the amount paid by the insurance company. Remaining balances will be the patient's responsibility.

Note 1: Pratt Medical Center does not participate with CareFirst HMO. However, there are certain CareFirst PPO members that our physicians can see and still be considered in-network (or par). The PPO cards have a "suitcase" on them with "PPO" inside the suitcase. There will also NOT be a PCP listed on the card.
